Manganese
Manganese is a mineral typical not only for its antioxidant properties, but also for a number of other physiological effects.
Manganese functions
- involved in energy production, bone growth and cartilage
- involved in the synthesis of cholesterol and fatty acids
- disposed of retroviruses, which are believed to be one of the factors that cause cancer
- protects against thinning bones and arthritis
Recommended daily intake of manganese is 0.3-0.6 mg for infants and 2-5 mg for adults. Its source: mainly potatoes, whole wheat flour, rice and green leafy vegetables.




The lack of manganese causes problems with eyes and ears, increased cholesterol and blood pressure, memory loss and muscle weakening.
