Recent research suggests that older women have lower body content of vitamin B12, and as a result of this they suffer from rapid bone loss. This conclusion was reached based on the latest research, which aimed to clarify the effect of this vitamin on bone health. Vitamin B12, which is found in animal products such as meat, shellfish, milk, cheese and eggs, is essential for the production of red blood cells and proper functioning of the nervous system.
The results of controlled clinical trial comparing the efficacy of oral and parenteral administration of vitamin B12 in hematological and neurological indications were reported in Blood magazine. The study concluded that the effectiveness of both is similar. "Classical" neurological concept parenteral vitamin B12 and was reconciled with the approach hematologists satisfied with oral administration.

This review briefly summarizes the main studies on vitamin B12, folic acid and AD in the literature. Studies from various countries show that low levels of vitamin B12, or its absence is more frequently found in patients with AD than in patients without dementia.
